LVT job completed in Barnsley

A premium floor is only ever as good as the subfloor underneath it. At Berriman Carpets, we constantly preach that the secret to a flawless, long-lasting Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) installation isn’t just the plank you choose—it is the painstaking preparation that happens before a single piece of flooring is even laid. This recent full ground-floor transformation is the perfect showcase of that exact standard in action.

 

We started this project completely from the ground up. To guarantee a perfectly stable and level canvas, the team carried out a full mechanical surface grind to strip back any old residues and imperfections. Following this, we applied a liquid Damp Proof Membrane (DPM). This is a critical step that many standard fitters skip, but it completely seals the floor against rising moisture, protecting the lifespan of the LVT. Once the DPM was fully cured, we flooded the area with a premium ARDEX UK smoothing compound. This locked the subfloor down and gave us a glass-like finish to work from.

 

With the subfloor absolutely perfected, it was time for the main event. The client selected the stunning Textures LVT in the highly sought-after ‘Washed Oak’ colourway. We laid this in a continuous, flowing herringbone pattern that sweeps seamlessly from the hallway straight through into the kitchen and the downstairs WC. By running the pattern straight through without any clumsy threshold strips, it completely opens up the space and creates a high-end, unified aesthetic across the entire ground floor.

 

A massive shoutout to Ryan for an absolutely top-tier finish on this installation. The intricate, precision cuts around the bathroom vanity unit, the kitchen plinths, and the door frames are what separate an average fit from an elite installation. Every single angle has been meticulously considered, ensuring the herringbone geometry remains completely flawless from wall to wall.
